The SIGN network is the Southampton Intergenerational Network.

networking 1Our growing network of over 100 individuals, groups, and organisations that are committed to engaging the skills, knowledge and resources held in all generations to improve our city.

Stepacross support of SIGN includes:

Networking events (3 each year), bringing members together to work together, sharing ideas, learning, skills, resources and to deliver co-production projects for our community.

  • The SIGN web pages - helping the community to access:
  • Best practice advice to make your work more effective, saving time and money
  • Funding links and news
  • Interactive maps of SIGN members work that show where contacts are and what resources they may have to share
  • Latest Information and news via our SIGN blog

The work of SIGN members supports our community by:

  • Sharing practical skills such as cooking, gardening, DIY, car or bike maintenance
  • Sharing life skills such as shopping or living on a budget, managing money, computing or using every day technology
  • Sharing work related skills and experience
  • Improving attendance and attainment in schools
  • Challenging stereotypes about young or older people; improving communication and social skills and reducing the fear of crime
  • Providing new opportunities to volunteer or be engaged with the wider community and to have fun through sharing hobbies, crafts and interests
  • Helping to support or motivate people of all ages to improve physical and mental health and wellbeing and reduce isolation

     …. and much, much more

At the last SIGN network meeting we helped to develop some opportunities to link up with other members and start doing some good work.
